Do you love nature-inspired art and tree ring art, but want a subject that's more meaningful to you? Choose your own tree slice, perhaps from your own property, from the woods, from the beach, from some place special to you. Send it to our New England farm for the artist to transform into THREE beautiful tree ring prints, just for you!
Here's how it works:
1) Find or cut a tree ring slice. It needs to be as flat as possible, a few inches thick, and should be able to fit on an 18x24" sheet of paper (write us for larger options). Decide on your preferred surface for printing (top or bottom of the slice). Ship the slice to us in New England at your expense, separate from the cost of this listing.
2) We will plane the slice to even out any minor flatness issues, sand it smooth, burn the surface with a blowtorch to create textural differences in the tree rings and to bring out natural cracks, clean it with a wire brush, ink it, and create the prints. We'll make THREE prints for you as each print is unique with differences in tone, ink contact with the paper, and so on. The whole process will be documented in digital photos, which we'll send to you.
3) We will ship you the prints (shipping cost included), tracked and insured, in a tube mailer. We will never sell prints from your tree slice to anyone but you - your art is truly unique and one-of-a-kind, forever. Tree slices themselves will not typically be returned to you (unless you prefer to pay a separate packing and shipping charge, please let us know).
Specifics on the art:
*Preparing the slice for inking and printing is very time consuming, so completion of your finished prints can take 1-2 weeks from our receipt of the slice.
*Depending on the size of the tree slice and your preference, your prints will be 9x12", 14x17", or 18x24".
*Each print is done in deep black on a stunning white background. The ink is Supergraphic black professional relief ink. The paper is bright white heavyweight (at least 96 lb) acid free Bristol paper. Unframed.
